The recent cold snap across many parts of the country provided an excellent opportunity for landscape photographers to practice their craft. Such extreme conditions are pretty rare in our part of the world, although things can be significantly different within several miles of our home address, particularly on the more exposed moors and edges.

Just across the valley from the house lies Clough Wood, an area of stunning beauty that I have overlooked for many years. Much of it is a mature man-made plantation interspersed with indigenous flora and interesting outcrops of weathered Carboniferous Limestone. As I have rediscovered, it is a beautiful tranquil place to bumble around with a camera and as the landscape had been blanketed in hoar frost I ventured out with my Leica SL2-s and 16-35mm lens.
