Angelo Smaldore half case for Leica Q2
- Written by: Ethan & Steven
Being the owner of a Leica Q2 Ghost edition, I felt it needed some form of protection against bumps and scrapes. The problem with this is that a case covers the very part I was so enamoured with - the finish. Looking around the internet, there was very little out there that complimented the grey finish. And those that did had a very unattractive handgrip built into them. So I parked the idea and took the camera out naked for the first few months, thinking I would eventually get used to the idea of it picking up a mark or two during use. The idea never sat well with me though, so on return from a recent holiday on which the Q2 accompanied me (and which the camera returned unscathed from), I took a deeper dive into the world of cases.
Updated: Leica Summicron SL 75mm f2 Lens

Towards the end of last year, Ethan and myself attended an in-store day held at the Leica Camera Store, Manchester. The purpose of the visit was to get our hands on the newly announced Leica SL2 and see how it compared to the original SL. I have always been fond of the SL after trying one out at 2016’s camera show in Birmingham. However it was the T system that I brought into, comfortable with the fact that it shared the L mount with the SL. While slowly building my T system I kept an eye on the gradual evolution of the L system.

Skopelos

We recently returned from a late summer break to Skopelos, a beautiful pine covered island that forms part of the Sporades archipelago. Visiting in September meant we were spared the busy summer crowds that travel across from Skiathos that tour several of the filming locations used for the Mamma Mia! movie. We have visited Skopelos on previous occasions many years ago, although limited to days trips. This time we stayed for two weeks in the main town and port which gave us direct access to the atmospheric winding streets and alleyways. The hills around the town gave us plenty of opportunity for hill walking and cycling. For your viewing pleasure, below is a set of images taken during our stay, using a Leica CL camera with 35 and 60mm lenses.
