What seemed like a never ending amount of rain and poor weather in the UK saw us book flights to Greece in search of a little sun. We decided to stay on the island of Kalymnos in a small hotel situated in the main port of Pothia, which is a 40 minute ferry ride away from Kos. Temperatures here could not have contrasted more with the UK and we were immediately plunged into 35C heat which was pretty energy sapping at first.

24 hours later, we had acclimatised and began exploring the town and nearby villages. Kalymnos remains wonderfully Greek both in its atmosphere and the warmth offered by those who live there. I took along my Pentax K3iii, 20-40 and 85mm lenses to record our stay. The 85mm lens is still very new and I took this opportunity to get to know it a little better. The 20-40mm zoom is a lens I am more familiar with and it is rapidly becoming one of my favourite lenses of all time, irrespective of brand. The K3iii body remains an immense learning curve and offers more configuration than any other camera I own (or have previously owned). After this trip I do feel more comfortable with it and am finding my way around the many buttons and menu items much easier. Above all, I am enjoying the learning process and hopefully these images capture something of the essence of this small Greek island.
