During the summer of 2014, we embarked on a trip to the eastern side of Sicily. Starting at Catania, we headed for Taormina followed by Castiglione di Sicilia, Motta Camastra, Syracuse, Ortigia, Villa Romana del Casale and Etna. We also had sufficient time to get out to the Aeolian Islands and visit Panarea and Stromboli. Ethan documented the journey in our Travel Diaries section but the pictures shown here are culled from a few hundred 35mm slides that were taken on the trip, but only very recently scanned. They also represent the last slides I shot, embracing a fully digital workflow shortly after.
Reviewing the collection, I rediscovered some wonderful surprises of moments long forgotten, underscoring why travel is so important to me. This conclusion to my analogue work was shot using Olympus OM3Ti and 4Ti cameras with Zuiko 21mm f2, 50mm f1.2 and 100mm f2.8 lenses. Film stock was my last batch of Kodak Elite EBX 100 that had been deep frozen for a number of years. Sadly it had taken on a magenta tint when processed, which has been corrected as part of this scanning project.
