Summer 2012 saw us touring the Greek island of Lesvos. Based primarily in the picturesque village of Molyvos, we travelled the length and breadth of the island in search of beautiful images. Shown here is a very small collection culled from a much larger body of work. We hope you enjoy them!

A coastal view of Petra on a particularly breezy morning. It is said that the Greek hero Achilles anchored his fleet in this bay on his journey to Anatolia, to take his historic place in the Trojan War. -

Molyvos is inundated with cats, particularly in the higher part of the village away from tourists. It seemed that every corner we turned we were greeted by hungry feline eyes. -
Stopping at Mandamados Monastery we were surprised to see this full sized fighter jet in the car park. -
The Roman aqueduct at Moria which, in antiquity, carried water from mountain springs to nearby Mitilini. -

A 60 million year old petrified Sequoia tree, one of a large forest buried by an ancient volcanic eruption. -

Interior of Ipsilou monastery located on a mountain top between Andissa & Sigri. The library houses many ancient books and manuscripts, some a thousand years old. The view from here is simply stunning - to experience it go to our Panorama section (under Specials). -
A beautiful morning at Skala Eresou. We overnighted here after a baking day on the road. The hospitable village was a welcome sight for weary eyes. -

A trip to the mountain town of Agiasos saw us befriended by a local canine. This was probably due to us being sat in a taverna eating at the time. -

We spent several leisurely evenings capturing images of Molyvos, its castle, and harbour. Anyone visiting here will agree it is a stunning location after dark. -
